We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Production Assistant to join our fast-growing team in Namibia. Namibia Berries is a hydroponic blueberry farm located along the Kavango River in Divundu. As Production Assistant, you will play a key role in growing the business into one of the largest blueberry projects in Africa.

In this role, you will support the Production Manager with all key duties relating to blueberry production, including harvest planning, irrigation, fertigation, field quality control, and cold room quality control.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

‍

Quality Control

·       Manage field and cold store quality control (shelf life, harvesting planning, farm intake)

·       Conduct cold store quality inspections

·       Conduct pre- and post-harvest quality inspections

·       Calibrate and maintain quality equipment

·       Plan and implement field trials

‍

Production and Production Planning

·       Compile daily and weekly production plans

·       Schedule planting and harvesting processes

·       Administer weeding and pest management

·       Implement fertiliser recommendations from technical advisors

·       Manage and maintain automated irrigation system

·       Implement health and safety practices to ensure compliance with HACCP/SIZA and Global Gap

‍

Reporting

·       Manage all data capturing and analysis

·       Compile analysis reports

KEY REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate has a positive attitude and strong work ethic, pays attention to detail and is excellent in planning and organising.

‍

·       National Diploma in Agriculture specialising in Crop (Fruit) production with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or a Degree in Crop (Fruit) production with minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

·       Experience in Blueberries Plant Care/Health/Treatment will be an added advantage.

·       Ability to provide training on crop health, specifically blueberries.

·       Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people and lead teams.

·       Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. Must be a self-starter.
