Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic HR Manager to join our team in the Winelands/Boland/Cape Town area of South Africa. This is a hybrid position, allowing for a balance between remote and on-site work. The ideal candidate will have experience working with large agricultural businesses and a strong understanding of the unique challenges in this industry. The HR Manager will play a key role in shaping our HR strategy, promoting a positive organisational culture, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment and Selection: Manage the recruitment process to attract a diverse range of candidates, with a focus on promoting inclusivity and representation in line with company goals.
  • Training and Development: Design and implement comprehensive training programmes to enhance employee skills and career growth, aligning with the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Performance Management: Develop performance management systems and provide coaching to managers and employees to enhance overall performance.
  • Diversity and Affirmative Action: Implement and monitor initiatives to ensure fair representation and diversity within the workforce, in line with company policies.
  • Employee Relations: Address employee concerns, mediate conflicts, and promote a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Oversee payroll, compensation structures, and benefits packages, ensuring competitiveness and fairness.
  • Compliance and Labour Laws: Ensure compliance with labour laws, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of employment regulations. Ensure work visas and permits for employees are processed and kept current.
  • HR Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on key HR metrics, such as recruitment, turnover, training, and diversity initiatives.
  • Health and Safety: Manage health and safety programmes, ensuring a safe working environment in compliance with legal and company standards.

Qualifications

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in HR Management or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in an HR role, with a strong background in large agricultural businesses.
  • Experience implementing diversity and affirmative action initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of South African/Namibian employment laws and regulations.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and HR software.
