Namibia Berries has reached a significant milestone with its first blueberry harvest, underlining the company’s commitment to quality agriculture and its impact on the local community. This successful harvest involved 73 permanent employees and 240 seasonal workers, demonstrating the commitment of the workforce to delivering top quality produce.
A total of 150 people received specialised training, equipping them with the necessary skills to grow and harvest blueberries in the best possible way. This investment in training emphasises Namibia Berries’ commitment to excellence and sustainability in its operations.
The blueberries were exported to various international markets, including Germany, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. These diverse destinations not only reflect the high demand for premium blueberries, but are also indicative of Namibia Berries’ successful strategy to gain access to key global markets.
In addition to international exports, Namibia Berries supplied fresh blueberries to local lodges, supporting the community’s hospitality industry with farm-fresh produce. The company also contributed to a local school’s career day, providing blueberries to students, reinforcing our engagement with the youth in the community.
Preparations for next season are already well underway and there are plans for further expansion of the current production area. This proactive approach not only aims to meet the growing demand for blueberries, but also creates additional employment opportunities and strengthens Namibia Berries’ role as a key employer in the local economy.
Looking ahead to future harvests, Namibia Berries continues to focus on innovation and quality and promises exciting developments for both the company and its community.
