Saronsberries is one of Loxworth’s impact investment projects . It is planned to be the largest hydroponic blueberry farm in South Africa with a total investment of €30 million employing over 3000 people, mainly women, during harvest seasons.
It hosted its first AGM recently and celebrated the raising of €6 million for Phase 3 of the development with our local and international investors.
Saronsberries is currently harvesting Phase 1 and tracking at 200% of production forecast. The rapid scaling of this project is supported by an experienced agricultural team who have been given management equity participation as a result of their commitment . It is important to Loxworth that the operations teams of its investments benefit from the shareholder value that they are central in creating.
